Background:

It is situated within very attractive grounds in the rural village of Whitchurch, the school's accommodation is relatively new, having been rebuilt in 1982, although it was first established in 1858. Whitchurch aims to provide a 'balanced' education within a Christian environment, where pupils are encouraged to develop their abilities according to their individual needs. The curriculum is complemented by local visits. Sports played include gymnastics, dance, athletics, swimming and adventurous activities, and some pupils participate in team sports against other schools or individually in swimming galas and area athletics events. There is an after-school recorder club for Key Stage 2 children with an aptitude for music. Parents have a decisive role in school life and are 'encouraged supporting their child's progress at all times'. The Parents, Teachers and Friends Association organises well-established social, educational and fundraising events. Links with the community are strong and the school is well known for its fundraising for local, national and international charities. Each year pupils take part in a sponsored walk to provide local senior citizens with Christmas gifts. The school aims to be a 'happy, caring, industrious and disciplined community'.
