Background:
Kingstone High School is an 11 to 16 mixed comprehensive school maintained by the local education authority. It serves a large catchment area to the south and west of the City of Hereford. The school was founded in 1948 and is housed in modern buildings, which were created in 1973. A craft block of innovative design was added in 1986 and in 1991 an impressive new activity and dinning area was opened. Most recently a science block has been built and a physical education theory base created. The school has extensive playing fields providing football, rugby and hockey pitches, an all weather cricket strip and a full size athletics track. There are flourishing school teams in football, netball, cricket, cross-country and athletics all supported by lunchtime and after-school. The school offers a wide range of educational visits and residential trips, including a London theatre trip and annual visits to various areas in Europe. The school aims to create a caring and disciplined community, which values honesty, responsibility and compassion as a basis for life and seeks to nurture each pupil as an individual.
