Background:
Almeley School was founded in 1899. Currently the original Victorian building houses the office, library, computer room and Key Stage 2 classroom and an additional building contains the Key Stage 1 classroom. The grounds contain a quiet reading garden. All national curriculum subjects are offered and a 'strong' emphasis is placed upon finding individual strengths in sport, music, drama, art and craft design and technology (CDT). A family French club is offered after school, in addition to football, instrumental tuition, craft and gardening. Many extra-curricular activities are used to develop and widen the educational experience, including visits to the Hay Festival, Symphony Hall, Millennium Dome, Russian national ballet, Cardiff Centre for Visual Arts and a residential adventure holiday. Pupils have previously participated in children's parliaments and recently won the Young Designer of the Year and Rural Safety competitions.
