Background:
Most of the pupils at this small school situated in the village of Clifford live in Herefordshire, although the school also has a small intake from Hay-on-Wye and Clyro. It comprises three main teaching spaces and a library area, a large playing field, playground and conservation area, in addition to a swimming pool housed in a separate building. Children play a 'variety' of sports and compete in the Dore Trophy, the Mitchell Hammer cup and the Golden Valley Knock Out competition. Older pupils are given the opportunity to sleep under canvas in the school field and Year 6 pupils are offered a residential visit to Malvern Outdoor Centre. 'It is the aim of Clifford primary school to provide the full social, moral, emotional, physical and intellectual development of the children'.
